D-Day Numero Uno~

Day 1 of dieting went okay..Made the mistake of skipping breakfast so I was really starving by lunchtime and the yong toufu soup I had didn't appease my rumbling tummy. Had to drink lotsa water to make myself feel full..Had a boiled egg as a light snack later and felt much' better. Ate some peanuts in the evening too.

But dinner was yummy. meganmacy gave me this grilled codfish recipe which sounded so delicious that I had to try it out immediately..I didn't have an oven so I tried using my toaster which is like a pseudo-oven to grill it..I think I overdid on the 'dressing' up of the meal by putting the cherry tomatoes on the pan too (instead of just having it on the fish) and sprinkled the parmesan and mozarella cheese a li' too liberally. And the pan was somewhat beng koak so it was tilting to the left and all the olive oil gravitated to the left side of the pan..

After abt 15 minutes of grilling, the codfish wasn't a pretty sight.., the basil leaves on top of it were all blackened and the tomatoes weren't very cherry looking..and I think the cheese/ tomatoes which laid on the right side of the pan caught fire for a while coz there wasn't much olive oil there [aiyah, should have taken a pic of it]..But the codfish itself looked edible still. And I was so darn hungry that I would have eaten it if it was totally blackened. Prepared a side dish of chef salad and then tried my own cooking. The codfish tasted delicious!! I think it was the basil leaves and the cheese that made the dish! And I'm still feeling full now. I guess it's time to buy a 'real' oven!

Okay, I need more recipes to last me for the next 2 weeks :D~~

-cod fish
-mozarella cheese( shredded or a ball)
-basil leaves
-cherry tomatoes
-parmesan cheese
-olive oil
-sea salt and pepper

Rub the cod fish with salt and pepper and leave it for about 1 hr. Oil the pan with olive oil. Place the cod fish on it, drizzle the mozzarella, shredded basil, tomatoes drizzle a pinch of salt and pepper. Drizzle more olive oil top up with grated parmesan cheese.

Oven it for 15-20 minutes.

Thanks Mong :))

Spent the day with good pals again..had dimsum at Teahouse at China Square and later went to Trev's house again for mahjong and dinner..Good move coz hub and I won @120 bucks..:D~~

the li' boy in red..

Aidan..the only male~

All bochaping each other..

Look alike meh?

I'm actually trying the South Beach Diet..The first 2 weeks is quite drastic coz you totally eliminate carbs from ur diet and reintro them slowly back from 3rd week onwards. The site is not bad becuz it states which type of food to avoid during the diff phase of the diet..I am actually scouring ard for good non-carb recipes so i cant share much.

I think one should try this diet only if they wanna lose lotsa weight..You aren't overweight what (based on pics i've seen of u)..

Will give u the codfish recipe later coz its in the other puter :)

but cereal is also carb right? I'm supposed to refrain from carbs during the first 2 weeks.

I think ur exercise regime probably helped u lose weight more coz snackin on cereal shouldn't actually work that well..and u gotta watch what u eat during ur regular meals right?

Btw,what is hydroxycut?

Some of my entries are 'locked' so only those in my Friends list are able to view it..That's why it looks like i havent updated for a long time, esp for pple like u w/out an lj account. That's why i was askin u whether u wanted one :D..

Hm..generally, people all think that Aidan resembles his dad more, especially when they see them in person. I hardly have anyone commenting that he looks like me..although i have to agree..he does have my nose *sob*

You look gorgeous in these pics, Angelia. Aidan and daddy aren't bad either. ;) Please do share the codfish recipe with us. I like most anything baked.
Nov. 26th, 2003 05:08 pm (UTC)
heh thanks. I realise i do look deceptively 'slimmer' in pics coz it doesnt show my problem areas (from waist downwards)..I guess the same goes for my hubby *grin*

I've edited the entry to include the recipe. Am hoping meganmacy will pass me even more! Do share some of ur fav recipes..especially if they don't include carbs hehe..

Nov. 26th, 2003 04:44 pm (UTC)
Yes, do post the codfish recipe please!!! I love codfish *yum* Besides I also need to go on diet ~ urghhhh.
Aidan does look like daddy, esp the eyes. But his mouth looks like neither of you - I notice it's always slightly open like he's saying 'ohhh', sooo cute!

Heh..i think most of us post-partum moms are lamenting that they need to diet but i guess most of them who are fully breastfeeding, it helps to lose weight already. I on the other hand have problem shedding my pregnancy weight *sigh* The masseuse I go to always say I have too much wind..bah!

Hee..i never noticed abt aidan's mouth being slightly agape and on looking at his pics, i realise u are right!! hehe..

Oh btw, have edited the entry to include the codfish recipe.

Woah the cod fish recipe looks real good, and easy too. Shall try that some day.

Personally, I love having an oven, can bake/grill lotsa stuff, and easy to clean up, not like when u fry stuff.

I tried baking some chicken thigh last weekend, tasted quite good. I just mixed some herbs and pop into the oven. Lemme know if u wanna try the recipe.
Nov. 26th, 2003 05:14 pm (UTC)
yeah..i think an oven/grill will be most convenient and especially when Aidan is able to eat more stuff, i can start grilling food or baking for him. I should go invest in a good oven :)

Oh pls do share ur recipe. I was actually thinking of making a chicken dish but i had no idea what marination or herbs to use. Was actually gonna bug Mong to pass me a chicken recipe hehe!

You seriously don't look like you need to lose weight leh.

Oooh, Aidan sure has his daddy's eyes but he has your nose, mouth and face shape. Three out of four - you win! :)
Nov. 26th, 2003 06:18 pm (UTC)
I know it doesn;t look it (based on pics) but i really do. U know the top I'm wearing? It's Old Navy XL!! I used to wear sizes S or M before I was pregnant! That's how 'big' I grew. And I have this papaya shape body now..the most problematic area is my tummy/thighs..So hopefully, the diet will help to slim these areas.
Nov. 26th, 2003 06:05 pm (UTC)
haiz... i oso always say wana go on diet.. but dun last long 1 loh..

hmmm... mayb i shd again.. u b my motivation.. we2 must GAMBATE..!!

You of all people need not diet lah *kbish*! I would probably lose mass and weight if i was gymming as much as u! really admire ur discipline lah (and ur flat abs too)..

Heh..i was wondering who will comment abt the 'redness' of the group pic. I was thinkin of wearin red initially but changed my mind last minute..so Aidan wear red on my behalf..Thankfully tho or else everybody so ang that day! Not chinese new year leh!

Yah Angie - you're right, nuts are allowed in phase 1. It is Atkins that doesn't allow it. I think....

Here's the website that I use, more or less the same lah.

I'm going to go through my Moosewood Cookbook for some good carb-like bases for these 2 weeks. I have a hard time eating lots of meat, so I figure some lentil/black bean stew/salads might help fill the tummy. But when I went on Ph1 the first time, I did the same as you - drink lotsa water! Good for your health anyway. You'll get used to eating less after a few days.

"Flunked" again this morning because I ate some porridge. Still sick!! ARGH.
Nov. 26th, 2003 06:25 pm (UTC)
oh no..still under the weather? No lah..if you are sick, u shouldn't try to adhere to the diet. Wait till ur body gets stronger. u need the carbs now! Get well soon!

Yeah..was contemplating on Atkins but on reading abt it, I realised it's really challenging and I cant see myself gorging on fats/meaty stuff. My friend was tellin me abt his colleague who was on Atkins and said that her weight loss was rapid..Basically shrunk to half her previous size in just a mere 2 months. But he said that she was eating those fatty meat like crazy n told him that she needed to do so , in order to have the energy replacement. Oh man..erghh..

Yeah hope i get used to the feelin of 'echo' in my tummy. My problem is that i used to snack a lot and I get hungry really fat *sigh*

I always like looking at babypics! heh!

Ehh, its not so much dieting = eating less. try, erh, eating the low fat stuff, think tofu...lean meat like fish and all that, and lotsa roughage. and fruit juices..haha..

and thats a damnned good recipe! I'll definitely go try it out.
Nov. 27th, 2003 08:23 am (UTC)
hmm..i read that the low fat stuff isnt always low fat becuz they subsititute it with carb and thats wat im tryin to avoid.

Hee..yeah must try! It taste great!
Nov. 26th, 2003 06:42 pm (UTC)
Now you got me seriously thinking about dieting, am doing more reading. Mind sharing the reason why you chose South Beach?

Recipes, may be you can give these and these a try?
Nov. 26th, 2003 09:10 pm (UTC)
I chose SBD becuz i do wanna lose weight quite drastically..the diet says that one can lose from 11-18 pounds easily if it's followed closely. And compared to the other diets, it does look quite do-able..(well, once i get used to not having carbs for a while)..

Thanks for the link. will check out the recipe soon!!
