sporeans do have some heart afterall :)

Today, a grand total of 4 kind souls offered their seats to me when I was taking the MRT. It was rush hour [after 6pm] when I took the train from Somerset to Dhoby Ghaut [I was meeting my mil at Plaza Singapura]..Aidan was strapped in the baby bjorn facing outwards. The moment I entered the cabin, a lady about 2 metres away looked at me, half stood up and waved me over..I smiled and mouthed 'no thank you' to her [coz I was alighting soon] and when I moved to the right, 2 young men both sitting opposite each other stood up and offered their seat which I politely declined and explained the reason why. After I'd met my mil at Plaza and finish our grocery shopping, we decided to take the NEL so that dad wouldn't need to drive all the way there just to pick us up..And again, I was offered a seat by these two ladies who were sitting right at the side of the door, the moment I entered the cabin.

When I was about @8 months pregnant with Aidan and taking the train about a year back, not a single soul offered their seat to me..No one offered their seat when I took the bus too. But with Aidan dangling infront of me, I guess it's kinda hard to ignore, especially when he was in such a good mood , waving at people around him and clapping his hands away :) Must bring Aidan for more rides on the trains then!

South Beach Diet - Day 2
2nd day of diet went by fine.. The egg omelete with diced tomatoes and mozarella cheese I whipped up for breakfast was quite filling so come lunch time, the sliced pomfret fish soup I had was enough to fill my stomach. But by about 4pm. I was really hungry and I think it was worse coz I was carrying Aidan using the baby bjorn and it was tiring me out too. Fortunately, the other moms had a stroller to spare [no, my combi stroller isn't stolen again..it was left in hubby's car boot]..So for tea, I had some green salad with chicken cubes at Delifrance. Dinner was a sirloin steak [rare]..yeah, sirloin is acceptable for the South Beach Diet..rib eye steak is a no-no!

I tell ya..when I was walking along the bakery/bread aisle at Carrefour, the smell of freshly baked dough almost killed me..I never knew bread could smell that good!! Quickly ran down the aisle in case I started hyperventilating!

And yesterday night, I actually had a nightmare that involved carbs..I dreamt that I was eating bowls and bowls of rice and porridge with chicken thighs and wings! Thankfully my pillow was still intact when I woke up!

Will be setting up a stall together with Jean alisonrae this Sunday,30th Nov at Clark Quay..Am intending to sell most of the XS size clothes and stuff I know I probably will never wear, even if I slim down :D~~ Probably will include some bags and shoes..Most of the stuff are in good condition so I think I should be able to sell most of them..

Must make some money so that I can pay for Aidan's birthday/x'mas bash hehe~~

Videos of the week :
a)Aidan learning how to feed himself using the fork (well, sorta - he had help from his grandma :)
b)Aidan appreciating 'music'..

Sometimes, it's a case of not knowing whether the woman is plain fat or pregnant. Especially when that woman's dressed quite normally and not in those sailor-type pregnancy dresses.

I think I definitely look pregnant then...When i was preggy, my face was still rather small..legs too..only the stomach was protruding..I think kinda hard to mistake me as being fat! I was wearing a maternity top to them :D~~

I think I posted my experience in my lj back then and u said the same thing hehehe

aidan is so cute and cheerful, people cannot pretend to ignore him n u rite!!! not like with a preggie lady, where tons of people just act blur! i always make an effort to give up my seat to preggie ladies cos i dont wanna have to stand when i am preggie next! what goes around, comes around... karma

p.s. i got my hubby to watch the aidan music video and he said that aidan's pretty smart to understand what to do when u said there was no more music.... he ah, think that babies and kids r helpless and dumb :P

Re: San
hehe..no, babies/kids learn very fast..By abt this age or later, they start to imitate whatever we do..so thats the scary part! I have to always caution myself not to swear so much or else he may do the same :P

Can't see the video clip on Aidan feeding himself.

Well great to hear that there are lots of kind souls around. However when i was pregnant, people still do offer me seats in mrt and bus too...maybe people staying around the east is rather kind. However one of my pregnant friend who is staying in the west do complain to me that she is not offered seats in bus or mrt even though she is 8 mths pregnant now..so poor thing ya.
Nov. 27th, 2003 08:16 am (UTC)
heh..i had to delete a few videos from the server coz it was too full already. The videoclip can be seen now :)

I guess it's ur luck..u meet courteous pple, they offer u their seats..I only took the train/bus once when i was preggy and i had a bad experience!

You look beautiful in the first pic! really :D

I think its great that people offered you their seats, just goes to show that there are still a few good samaritans and kind souls around. Especially during rush hour, where public transpo is usually packed. Too bad it was different when you were pregnant :( I can't see the videos anymore :'( guess I'll have to wait til my own comp is set up.

Looks like you're making great progress with the diet. Way to go!!
Nov. 27th, 2003 06:48 pm (UTC)
huh..the first video wasn't uploaded properly initially.mebbe thats y u cant see it...

Yeah..am tryin to stay on the wagon..have to be determined..I think once i pass the 1st week mark, the second week should be easier *cross fingers*

Um, I've not been on the NEL either. Hahaha! So chilvary's not dead huh? Erm, I kinda agree with issyleus that sometimes it's hard to tell if a woman is pregnant or not. Once I congratulated a female colleague on her pregnancy, but it turns out she was just putting on weight! Oh man, that was bloody embarassing!!! Since then, I've been careful not to assume ... and I still dunno what's a polite way of finding out! LOL! :)
Nov. 27th, 2003 06:51 pm (UTC)
U have a car right..that's why! Imagine, I've been relyin on cabs and either hubby or fil drivin me ard most of the time..i feel so spoilt :P..

hee..usually, if there's a pregnancy, the word does get around right, esp in the office. I did mistake someone for being pregnant too. I was in Melbourne and waitin in line for the loo (I was abt 7 months preggy then) and this lady who looked pregnant too enquired abt how advanced my pregnancy was..and i asked her back..and she said.."oh no..i'm not pregnant. I'm fat!" Very paiseh man..quickly did my business and scurried away~~

your baby looks as cute as ever! :)
hmm..isn't the nel much cooler than the old trains? heh.
Nov. 27th, 2003 06:52 pm (UTC)
well, it is definitely newer looking..not sure abt it being cool :P~

Nov. 27th, 2003 01:01 pm (UTC)
erh.... u look slim and nice from the pix liao.. why need to go on diet some more?? ;)

Aiden looks cute in his video clip!! How lovable.
Nov. 27th, 2003 06:55 pm (UTC)
I think my face generally look slimmer compared to my lower torso..Thats y i need to diet coz most of the fats has gravitated towards my hips and thighs & of coz my tummy *sigh*
Nov. 27th, 2003 04:03 pm (UTC)
Sounds like you had fun on the trains! Japanese people don't offer pregnant people seats either. When I was 7 or 8 mo. pregnant, hubby and I took the subway together and he was ready to beat someone up to make them give up their seat for me. hahaha I told him I looked too sturdy to need to a seat. :P

We're going on the subway ourselves today. I think Stephen's going to be thrilled. He just started liking trains and this will be the first time in a couple months that we're taking the subway.
Nov. 27th, 2003 06:59 pm (UTC)
heh have fun on the subway. Am sure Stephen's gonna enjoy it. Maybe u could get him a toy train for his x'mas present..

So, did anyone finally gave the seat to u after ur hubby 'almost' beat them up?

Hahaha. You very funny!

Okie, Angie, I didn't know about the diff between sirloin and ribeye. Sirloin is more expensive!

Agree with the rest, u do look really nice in this pic (not that u dun look nice in other photos, ok). Like more energetic and radiant. Effect of the diet?

When I was preggy and now when I sling Nana, people usually do offer their seats to me, maybe I look very frail and weak cos of my small build, haha. The other time I had Nana in the stroller and had to carry her down a long flight of stairs (escalator under maintenance), this very nice gentleman actually helped me carry her down. I was so grateful. I dun expect people to give up their seats for me, but on the whole I do meet pretty nice people on public transport. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

BTW, I'm curious. For the SBD, why is chicken thigh not allowed but chicken breast is ok? Similarly rib-eye is no no but sirloin is ok?
Nov. 27th, 2003 05:22 pm (UTC)
I think your small frame helped *grin* but yeah..I did have offers of help with my stroller a few times so...it does seem i have 'better' luck after givin birth to aidan hehe..

Fats & animal protein can be taken in replacement of the cut in carbs (esp for the 1st 2 weeks where i go cold-turkey on carbs). What SBD does is distinguish between the 'good' & 'bad' fats. Apparently, lean meat does have not have much of an effect on blood chemistry..thus meats like sirloin and chicken breasts are considered the 'lean' sort. Rib eye is extremely fatty..and so are briskets.so thats to be avoided and chicken thighs & wings are loaded with fats apparently..:D~

Good effort on the diet! Not too difficult once you get started hor?

Er, why is Aidan wearing a bib huh :P No eating on trains kekekekekekeke!
Nov. 27th, 2003 06:57 pm (UTC)
well, it's been 2 days only so far and I've had craving for rice, bread and milk but I'm holdin on so far hehe..

Aidan's wearin a bib coz he's been droolin heaps lately..Didn't want him to drown the pple on the train with his saliva!
Nov. 27th, 2003 05:40 pm (UTC)
hey.. seems like ur diet plan is really working very well! You really look very radiant! :)
Nov. 27th, 2003 06:45 pm (UTC)
ehh..no leh..havent lost weight, mebbe at most 0.5kg. Seriously, i don't think i look that radiant here..was thinkin my skin looks blotchy :P~
