more abt the boy..

I've written before that I'd missed Aidan's baby days. However, his toddler days can be really fun too. And it's really interesting to see how much he's learning and absorbing by virtual of habit or just by observing what we do.

For example, just before his bedtime at night, he'll usually have his last bottle of milk. And before that, a nice warm bathe to soothe him down after a day of play. After he is all powdered and changed into his pjs, he'll walk into the bedroom immediately, climbs into bed, starts hugging his piggy and waits impatiently for his milk. He'll then drink his milk on his own as we dim the lights and leave the room. Previously, I would return to the room after 'argak-ing' when he will finish his milk, remove the bottle from where he left it, make him drink some water [to sorta cleanse his mouth], and put him back and tuck him into bed and sometimes, I will nurse him to sleep. But now that he's self weaned, he seem to have gotten more proactive.

Now, when I enter the room, he'll be lying there on the bed hugging piggy and when he sees me, he'll immediately take the empty bottle which he'd placed next to him, hold it up & shake it a li' as if to show me that he'd finished his milk, hand it to me, reach out for his bottle of water & drink from it on his own, hand me the bottle after he's done with it and opens his palm for his pacifier in which he'll just put it into his mouth and then lie down on the bed hugging his piggy and snuggle against the pillow..Most of the time he'll fall asleep very easily without me needing me to be there to pat him. There are of coz times when he is still rather hyper..and we'll either sing/read to him or cuddle up with him in bed till he become really mabok and fall into slumberland :)

This may sound like nothing much but it's really cute to see him doing all these things on his own..He has always been an independent boy..not clingy at all and is able to play and entertain himself . It's so fun to see growing and developing well..I love it when he is so open with his affection by giving me big hugs. And I know hubby enjoys the attention he gets from Aidan when he comes back and the li' fella will wrap his arms around his legs that he can't walk at all :P...

heh..yeah..been experimenting with photomerge on photoshop :P..

and here's a daddy/son one too :)

Aidan can do so much now! You're such a loving mommy; I'm sure Aidan will appreciate all that you've done when he grows older.

Hmm..i guess as long as he grows up well and healthy and not become as cynical and unhappy as some of the youngsters of our time, i'll be contented. Sometimes, it is scary eh..u really wonder what kinda [quality] life u can provide them and how it will shape their being..But we can only do so much eh ..

I'm sure both u & E are always in awe as you u watch Erin grows eh..in a few months time, she's gonna be 1 year old soon. So fast!!!!

You mean you can leave him alone in the bedroom to drink his milk and he won't yell for you at all? What a wonderful boy you have there!
Mar. 9th, 2004 02:51 am (UTC)
yeah..very fortunate. He's been doing that ever since he knew how to hold the bottle on his own (when he was abt 3+ months). We'll just leave him on the bed/cot or in the stroller (if we're out) and give him the bottle and he'll just lie there and drink the milk to his heart's content. And ever since he learnt how to crawl and walk, he'll come 'looking' for me instead of yelling for me if he wakes up after he had his afternoon nap :)

That's why pple like June and Ashley always says that he's such an independent baby/boy and that i should b thankful :) which i am...

eh..u think too highly of me hor. me..not contributing to society. Over 30++ and one kid only.. Not their kinda mom in mind :D
Mar. 9th, 2004 06:55 am (UTC)
can teach me how to do it?
Mar. 9th, 2004 10:29 am (UTC)
Hee i only know how with adobe photoshop elements. i still think it isnt that nice yet coz the sides of the pics are too blunt. Must learn how to feather/blur it a li'.

Anyway..go to file and u'll see photomerge in it and start opening all the pics that u want merged together and photoshop will help adjust the pics size accordingly :)
Mar. 9th, 2004 07:17 am (UTC)
i was just picturing all that as you tell the story. the waving of bottle and hands and piggy. so cute. so intelligent. it's amazing to see how kids.. learn.

eh where's the photomerge function?
Mar. 9th, 2004 10:28 am (UTC)
hee..next time i try to take a video of him doing just that..i think as a mom, one finds it even more fascinating..other people may be wondering why im gushin abt so much :P

Im using adobe photoshop elements and the photomerge function is under File. Funny actually..i never realised it before until yesterday *tood*
