Hey Angie, I have a question. You said that you didn't get your rag since November, is that normal for women after they have breatfeed their babies, or were you always irregualr like that?
Mar. 13th, 2004 03:40 am (UTC)
i actually didn't have it for almost a year (I gave birth to Aidan in end Dec 02) and it first appeared in end Nov 03. It stopped and returned yesterday :(

It's actually very common for breastfeeding moms to start their menses much later after they given birth. I know of a few moms who had given birth earlier than me but who have not gotten their 'rag'.. Yet I also know of bfeeding moms who have theirs not long after they'd given birth so i think it's really depends on each individual..

And yeah..for me..mine has always been irregular..

poor dear *hugs*

you mean you've never had cramps before??? or has it been so long that you've forgotten? is it normal for it to hit you like that so strongly? *curious*

when i was younger, i used to have really bad cramps that one time i almost collapsed in school during PE. i can only emphatize. try those age-old remedies like hot water bottle, raising your legs, primrose oil, etc
Mar. 13th, 2004 04:33 am (UTC)
never! that's y i never knew how painful it was! Even my braxton hicks contraction wasnt that painful and my pregnancy was so effortless!

no hot water bottle in the house but hubby tried givin me a hot towel which helped a little..i think it feels better when i jab myself really hard where the pain is but then..it's like using pain to counter pain hehe

Then how? now no more cramps? I guess it usually gets less painful right?

I get very bad cramps too. Hereditary from my mom :( It was so bad for her that once, she was walking with her best friend and she just collapsed and dragged her best friend down with her and the best friend ended up with a scar on her arm because of that.

Like what Bur says, EPO is s'posed to help... and a lesser intake of cold drinks... but I guess if u don't know when yours comes, then u can't cut down your intake like me, one week prior to its arrival.

Mar. 13th, 2004 06:32 am (UTC)
EPO? That's primrose oil? Is that supposed to be taken orally? *suaku*

Yeah..i do realise takin warm drinks that help make the cramps better but it's like so painful still..tried sleepin but i realised it doesnt cramp so much when im sittin/standing upright..*argh*

Oh man..i feel like some spoilt brat..cant take a li' bit of pain.

does it like organ twisting?

hmm... if it's so i dont have cramps. i just feel weak and suan yuan suan yuan in that area around (ie. i don't have any sharp pain). But i still can stand upright and walk like normal.

i heard that an excolleague of mine use 暖水袋. Those used when sleeping in cold weather.

Actually from what I know, some people suffer from cramps cos' they are prone to having quite a bi of blood clots. And people without sexual experience get more cramps cos' the vagina opening is smaller so more contractions are needed to "push" the clots out. Usually it gets better after marriage ( erm.. assuming everyone believes in post marital sex lar!).
Mar. 13th, 2004 05:27 am (UTC)
eh..i never had cramps before i was preggy leh! I mean if that's the theory, i shouldnt be having them esp since i gave birth the natural way...

abit salah for me then hehe!

there is this chinese medicine called "bai feng yuan"
It's for people who experienced painful cramps and when ur "auntie" visits u, it will be a painless process. :)
Mar. 13th, 2004 05:09 am (UTC)
forgot to add...it's tiny little black pills in a small round container. u r supposed to swallow the entire contents once a week and u r not supposed to consume it when ur auntie visits. :)

I think you are so lucky that you have your peroid once and a while. I get mines every month, and each month I have to go through hell for like two days of pain. I asked hubby and he said that the best thing for you right now is not to diet and instead eat and make sure you take Vitamen E pills so that your cramps can be better. You are proabably lacking Vitamen E because of the alck of blood.
Mar. 13th, 2004 06:41 am (UTC)
Vit E..hmm..i dun have Vit E pills. I guess that's why most pple suggest Primrose Oil coz i think it contains heaps of it. Thanks! Have already stopped dieting and started takin carbs again so i wun feel that weak.
Mar. 13th, 2004 06:33 am (UTC)
Hope the pain goes away soon, you should be able to take those medications/pills u wanted to take since you not bfg aidan anymore that will help regulate the periods.
Mar. 13th, 2004 06:42 am (UTC)
yeah..at least that's one pro of not breastfeeding i guess..oh well..! Time to make the appointment with the gynae again. wonder if being on the pill will lessen the cramping :P

Hold on, it's menstural cramps and not food poisoning? :P I think that's good. I was a little worried about you! Do they have these Menstrual Cramp Relief Patches in Singapore? People use them in Japan. I've never had bad cramps, so don't know if they work or not.

Mar. 13th, 2004 04:19 pm (UTC)
i think it should b menstral cramps ..i remember i always had loose stools to during those times (+ nausea)..and the cramps are so darn painful (still)..I dun know abt menstral cramp relief patches..wow..if not, someone should start shipping them in. My mom-in-law brought a bottle of Evening Primrose Oil for me and i'd consumed some so hopefully, it works coz the medication i got doesnt!

oh ..hope that u'll never get to know how the cramps feel like...it's bleddy painful i tell ya! I got a low pain threshold lah!

hey angelia.. :)

i've been a slient reader since many mths back bcos i really enjoy reading abt aidan!!

anyway, you don't have cramps b4 being pregnant?? gosh, i think you were so lucky! i get cramps every mth my auntie comes. it used to get so bad that i couldnt get out of bed for school.

like what the rest have probably said, avoid cold stuffs and a hot water bag on your tummy will help ease the pain.. or you can go pharmacy to get those painkillers for menses.

anyway, with regards of dieting to lose weight, i think it's very difficult to stick to the strict diet for long term, you know, we have so much temptations now and then! try doing some cardio exercises instead.. they work wonders.. :)
Mar. 14th, 2004 05:07 am (UTC)
yeah..i never had cramps before! But then again, mine was never regular..there was even one year when i only had it one time only :P

I can really feel for those like you who have to suffer every month! Honestly, i never knew it could be that painful! Serious! Even when my subordinate used to apply for leave becuz of her cramps..i'd sometimes thought she was just skiving..now i know better :P

I know exercise is always a better option than dieting but arghh..i have no discpline man *paiseh*

San @ very.kanasai.com
It'd be very prudent of you to check with your gynae why you are having such severe m cramps when you never used to have them. women who has had kids are supposed to have an easier time with monthlies and not worst :(
Mar. 14th, 2004 05:03 am (UTC)
Re: San @ very.kanasai.com
hm..yeah mebbe i should do that.. never thought of this before. thanks :)
Mar. 14th, 2004 03:37 am (UTC)
Are your cramps still here now?
I know where you can get hot water bags, some Gaurdians outlet so sell them, comes with a nice furry cover (like a soft-toy). If not, Osin do have those water gel pack, can be used hot or cold, so good for fever or cramps (2 in 1)
Mar. 14th, 2004 05:02 am (UTC)
hmm next time i must look for those with nice furry cover..prob more comfy than having a rubber hotwater bag hehe..
Mar. 15th, 2004 09:37 pm (UTC)
Actually the cramps eased up for me after I gave birth. And the flow is lighter too! I'm usually crampy on Day 1, then from Day 2 onwards it's fine.
Mar. 15th, 2004 09:37 pm (UTC)
Oh yah, and AF came back when Alison was 9-10 months old. First couple of months was VERY scary.
