attacking some food item as usual...

I enjoy looking at photos of Aidan taken by others..Sometimes, I always think that my pics of him come out nice mainly becuz as his mom, I'm biased and tend to make sure they come out well (not that my pics of him are that good either). So, it's always interesting to see how others see him through their lenses.

And on this note..I love this set of photos taken by mfluder when we were over at burbur's place sometime back. I'm curious! How does one make the subjects so clear and the background blurish? Is it a photography technique or through photoshop?

my boy :)

Aidan & auntyadele :)

The pink mummies trio~!
auntyadele, triciaseow and moi..

....plus a pouting Aidan..

Yesterday night, I applied a clay mask on my face after a nice warm shower and was happily surfing the net when I heard some noise from the bedroom and knew that it was probably Aidan, who had woken up and making his way down the bed to look for me. So I opened the door, and the li' fella who was hugging his piggy while trying to hold on to the door, saw me and began to wail very loudly and was trying to get away from me. I was trying to figure out what was wrong with him because this was so unlike him. I then realised that I still had the mask on and the poor li' one was probably scared by the white goo on my face. Had to wash it off immediately and calm him down and he soon fell back to deep sleep.

Thankfully, he didn't have any nightmares that night :P..

Yeah! I will be going Hong Kong next week! Will probably be leaving 2 days before hubby. So...that means I got free time to go 'tai-tai-ing' and shopping with meganmacy!!!!! woohooo~~ And hopefully, we'll have time to do a 'ladies' night out together with claudiacheng during the weekends! mcflurry, we can meet up too if u like to :)

I was toying with the idea of bringing Aidan too but most people I spoke to said that if I was going alone, it's probably not that advisable to do so coz Hong Kong isn't a very baby friendly place..oh well, will try to take a trip with him somewhere else (maybe Australia) sometime this year :)

haha i think actually my explanation will be a lot more complex.

yup. you use the lasso tool or the pen tool. check my reply to angelia if you want to find out how to use the pen tool.

once you have selected the item you want to keep in the picture, right click, layer via cut, set the feather to about 3 to 5 pixels. or none if you can select very precisely. :)

if you look in your layers tab, you will see that your subject is in a new layer. you can click on the eye on the rest of the background to take it away. to add a new background, open that picture, use the move tool, select the background and drag and drop into your original picture.

when you go back to your original picture you will see a new layer with the new background. if it's above your subject, drag and drop the background layer down. it's a linear thing. layers at the top of the list will always appear on top of the next. once you're happy with your picture you can either go to the layer menu and select flatten image or do a save for web from the file menu.

I totally agreed with Angie, your photography is very good, and with photoshop knowledge, you already win more than half the battle, if you go full-time

thank you for your vote of confidence :)

Hey, I took some of your advice, and edited my photos in my most recent LJ posting using software. Can you take a look, and give me your truthful comments? I think it's lack of something, but can't say what it is.

that's because on a normal camera, the amount of blur in the background is directly proportional to the distance it is away from the subject, hence the blur looks a bit more "real".

serious :)

I think your pictures speak for itself..especially those that u took of the wedding of your friend. I wish my wedding photos were taking like that n not in the boring traditional style. You somehow are able to capture the essence of the moment and that's not something all photographers can do imo..and i guess that is your trademark..the journalistic yet unintrusive manner in which u take ur pics.
