Man..I'm weak! Have succumbed to the flu virus megally (Aidan passed it to me *sigh*). Everyone else in the family got it too but I had it the worse. Hubby and Nenita have recovered already but I'm stilll as sick as a dog (and it's been like 4 days already!) Was ordered to go home by my boss 'coz he didn't want me spreading the bug to him and everyone else ard me. Bah..I swear the meds given by our office doctor don't work at all. The runny nose meds were utterly useless. All they do is make me drowsy and my nose is still running like a tap..the amt of tissues I've used so far would have slain a dozen trees. I seem to be falling ill more often though. Hubby says it's 'coz I hardly exercise which I have to admit is true. Guess I should start taking supplements and vitamins too..especially since I'm not young & supple anymore.

Anyway, since I was home..i picked Aidan from school and brought him for his swimming lessons which he has every Thursday afternoon. Again, it was nice seeing how much he's enjoying himself. The instructor, Danny said the boy is improving and that it wasn't tough teaching him since he loves being in the water so much. The initial problem he had was that Aidan just couldn't wait to get into the water and simply plunged right in, even though he was at the adult pool. I think he's since learnt to wait for Danny's cue!

Call me slow but yes, I've just realised what a great toy the transformer is. I should write a letter of gratitude to the person who'd invented such a toy..After giving in to Aidan's plea of getting him a transformer toy, the boy was overjoyed with his two newly acquired transformers and had been spending most of his waking hours playing with them. I bought two so that he could alternate the toys once he got tired of any of them. And yes, this was actually the first time that he'd requested that I buy a toy for him though I doubt it will be the last..Well, as what my parents-in-law alway say to me whenever I complain upon realising they'd bought another toy for him.."The boy is only young once! Let him enjoy his childhood!" I guess if I can't beat them, might as well join them :P

I think I was quite starved of girlie toys when I was young...what I could remember were toy guns (my brothers') and some stuff toys. I don't remember having any of those Barbie or Strawberry shortcake dolls..But us siblings still had our own kinda fun which involves catching spiders, playing street football, climbing trees etc etc..I must admit I was quite a tomboy back then. Even when I entered primary school, I recall many of my classmates were into paper dolls..where you hang paper clothes on the doll paper's shoulders. I hated those and ended up tearing most of the outfits. My preference would be to be out in the field or badminton court, playing rounders, greenspot, rope or zero point and many other games that has slipped my mind..Can anyone of you remember this - "Father, mother I am sick..call for the doctor quick quick quick!". Or "Who stole the cookie from the cookie pot?". It makes me realise that most of these games were probably passed down through the oral tradition... I learnt it from the older girls in school and similarly, we taught the younger girls how to play the games. I wonder whether the kids are still playing these games in school... Man, I'm in a nostalgic mood today!

Yes, the X'mas tree is up! Nenita just couldn't wait to get it up. Kinda early I know but oh well, the X'mas deco are up in Orchard already and I hear X'mas carols played at Takashimaya =) I can also start buying pressies for loved ones to be placed under the tree. Have decided to get new ornaments this year so we only hanged up a few on the tree. Color theme to be decided later!

Just some more pics we took during our dinner at Spizza on Club Street last Sunday~

Aidan with Chloe..
They look so adult here, don't they =)

It was Nenita's decision. She wanted to put it up earlier but I said no..And we went to my colleague's house last Fri and she saw the Xmas tree was up already and the day after, she quickly put up the tree. According to alisonrae, Filipinos tend to put up the xmas tree very early..=)

heh zero point was my fave too but the gardener complained that we were littering the school compound with the rubberbands. I think it was banned for a while in my school!

Wah lao your Christmas decor earlier than shopping mall! *faint* My one only up on 17 Nov! :P

I thought it's "Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar"...

I dunno if you ever played the Scissors Paper Stone variation:

Wo jia de wo jia de wo jia de check

then the winner will say

Wo jia de gong ji wo jia de check, whilst pretending to be a rooster

and the lose will say (at the same time)

Wo jia de xiao ji wo jia de check, whilst pretending to have a chick's tail

and if they tie it will be

Wo jia de mu ji wo jia de check, whilst flapping fake chicken wings :P

Remember the "Chi Ku Pa" game also? Heh...
Oct. 27th, 2006 02:21 am (UTC)
Yeah, I know that one! Not sure what the point was, all the chicken imitating!

Ange - I also never had barbie or strawberry shortcake dolls! My brothers did have transformers though, and those were fun.
