Update Post (tons of pics!)

It was the school orientation for parents on Saturday morning and thankfully, the timing was at 11am although I still had to rise up early that morning as Aidan had a 'guest' - Gabriel who stayed overnight the day before. Both monkeys woke up at 7am as they'd realised the earlier they were up, the more Wii time they would get :)

The orientation was held in the old school as the new building of ACS Junior at Winstedt Road (the former Monk's Hill Secondary School) was not ready yet. The students' orientation would only be next year when school starts. The orientation had staggered timings for parents of students from different classes (2 classes per orientation batch). It was a good idea as that meant that there weren't many parents fighting tooth and nail to buy school uniforms and books. Not surprisingly, Aidan had to wear the smallest size for the uniforms..I thought he looked pretty spiffy in it especially with the sweater on. Spent over $300 on his uniforms, shoes & socks & school books!! And I still have to look for stuff like school bags and other misc items.. Oh well, I guess I have to be grateful that come Primary 1, his school fees would be lessened tremendously (kindergarten fees are truly exorbitant!).

Doesn't he look handsome in his uniform? :)
The sweater was optional but I just had to get it coz he looks so cute in it (superficial mommy that I am :P)

This is the typical Aidan pose :P

Yes, the boy has finally graduated from kindergarten! The graduation event held at one of the auditorium at NUS was a long-drawn affair with way too many performances since it involved the Kinderlands from all over Singapore..Can't be helped since this year was an anniversary year for Kinderland.

Here's some pictures taken at his graduation and also at the school's sports day!

I don't know what he's supposed to be..a butterfly I think (correction) He's a raindrop :)
but he looks so darn cute :)

Boy couldn't wait to get out of his 'itchy' outfit..

Playing some silly game at his sports day :)

prize collection!

And finally, his graduation portrait...He looks kinda different here though..

Caught up with some really old pals recently, courtesy of Facebook! It was a last minute arrangement so there wasn't time to call as many people as possible. These were people I've not met for more than 20 years! We spent so much time reminisicing over the old days and updating each other....Just can't believe that most of us will be turning 40 soon!

Here's a pic taken when I was in Sec 3 at some St John's Island overnighter thingy..

From left :Christine Sim,Angel Chan, Jennifer Soh,Elsie Lim,Tina Soo-Tho, MeMeMe, Melanie & Anne Chia
Saint Joseph's Convent - Secondary 3! (1985)

With Tina, Angel and Nina (who isn't in that old pic)
Edit : Yes, I am in the picture - 3rd from right! Can't believe that most of you picked every other person in the pic (cept for Melanie (2nd from right) who is obviously eurasian). Angel Chan is 2nd from left and Tina is right in the middle, 4th from right. They didn't change much actually! Did I look that different then?

Here's some pictures taken at the SuT Food Tour which was held for selected readers...It was my first time (yes, I'm suaku) at the Flyer and also at Xiyan, which was a restaurant that I'd always wanted to try. Lunch for the tour was at Braise@Sentosa but the meal was disappointing and soooooo slow so I shan't elaborate much on it. But the dinner was awesome man! Will definitely go back there again!

Heh..Ah Yoke, the food writer was taken aback at how big his face was on the bus..

With Aileen, Freddie and Ah Yoke at Braise..

Our two interns, Cheryl and Joel :)
And pictures of some of the sumptuous food that night...

Many people have commented that I seemed to have lost quite a bit of weight! Last Friday alone, I had 5 colleagues telling me that. 3 were females..and they said I looked good. The 2 males said I looked sickly :P It isn't that I'm not eating well or anything and neither am I stressed out. I'm about 49/50kg now compared to 54kg about 2 months ago. Oh well, I shall think of my weightloss positively although the irritating part is that the only thing not shrinking is my tummy! *bleah*

To be honest, being a single mom ain't really that easy. I find that I don't really have that much time for myself although I'm already quite blessed that I have the support of (ironically) my in-laws and my helper Nenita and some great pals! Will be spending some me-time at the end of the year by heading to New York on my own. No, Aidan won't be coming with me and yes, I do feel somewhat guilty especially since it will be the Christmas period and somehow, I do feel that some people think that I'm selfish for doing so...*sigh* But heck it lah, it's been such a long time since i went anywhere by myself and come next year when the boy starts Primary School, the only time I can take holidays would probably be during his school break.
