Can u believe it, yesterday was our 2nd visit to Carrefour and the 1st time after Aidan was borne...I was like a kid in a candy store..everything was so cheap and their clothes ain't that bad actually (yeah, suakoo that I am) and lotsa baby stuff too..Ended up buying pjs for me, boxer shorts for me n hubby, load of baby stuff (diapers/lotions etc)..and groceries of coz...Spent over 200 bucks there..Went to Mothercare at Marina Square to check out their latest items..no sale of any sorts :( ..Ended up buying li' girl's clothings for Renee & Chloe coz they were sooooo pretty and some stuff for Aidan..Arghh..I gotta stop shopping for Aidan!! Must resist!

Aidan making a face at me..he's been rather grouchy lately..bah!

Bought this colorful book which is made of cloth..Read to him while flipping the pages..he did seemed pretty fascinated by the bright colored pictures and the cute li' animal/fruits pictures..

Then he started 'flipping' tru the pages..and drooling over the them..

And finally chomping on a 'carrot' in the book..

In the end, he found the best way to use the book :)

Rachel came over in the afternoon with Ryan.....:)

The Mis-Adventures of Aidan+Ryan~

Look there *weet*..chio bu..

Oops..ok..what abt that one? Errr..but that's your mummy..

Okay..nothin to see here..back to our finger lickin' digits...

There's li' little boy whose cries I hear almost everyday around this time..I can hear him getting caned as the swish sound is pretty audible and he'll cry nonstop, sometimes for almost an hour.. Am kinda distraught whenever I hear it..I don't know which unit it's coming from..Sounds like somewhere downstairs..His cries wakes Aidan up from his afternoon nap at times too (that's how loud it is)..Should I do anything?

I'm surprised parents still cane their kids nowadays. I thought that went out of fashion years ago.

I used to get caned quite a bit when I was a kid. My Mum even wanted to hit me with a bamboo pole (the sort you dry your clothes with) once. I grabbed the pole and threatened her and shouted at her whether she wanted to cripple her daughter. The canings stopped after that. Violence to curb violence. Oh well.

I think pple still cane their kid..especially those kids that are really naughty and parents can't deal with them..Mostly Chinese tho..

Yeah..I was caned v often when young..I think even up to when I was abt Sec 4. Was a naughty kid so...Was pretty peeved abt it too but dad did sorta apologized for his treatment when we were much older..Mom was a cane-er too but not that frequent.

Didn't ur dad stopped ur mom then?

Spare The Rod Spoil the Child
Parents should not spare the rod or they will spoil the child! Seriously nowadays I look at the kids/young people.. there are many who are disrespectful, uncompassionate and selfish. Put it in a harsh way, I think singapore kids nowadays are getting spoilt coz they are overpampered by their overprotective parents. Thats why when I was in NS i see so many "mummy's boy", I had no hesitation to give them a lesson or two. Too bad if they have to learn it the hard way.. so Angie dun be too overprotective of Aidan cause when he go to NS he would see the harsh reality of life.. very xim tia to discipline your child but it's for his/her good.

Re: Spare The Rod Spoil the Child
Well, the canings I'm hearing takes place almost everyday..I don't think that it can that the child is THAT naughty right? I mean even so, he/she doesn't deserves such frequent beatings.
There is a line btwn disciplining one and child abuse imo..

At first I tot it's black face baby day~
Baby Ryan looks exactly like his lao dao~ heh.

Yeah for cheap stuff!

Regarding the boy, if you want to do something about it... first have to find out where he lives.

Actually..on closer look, Ryan looks like both his parents. His eyes are his mummy's and the rest of the features, daddy's.

Shouldn't be that hard to look for where the caning is coming from..I just have to walk out of the apartment and follow the sound. Am just wondering whether I should be that kaypoh to go check it out..

aiyoh that color book is soooooooo cute. love how some parts of 3-d!
Aidan's like the perfect excuse to make stuff out of my leftover material. too bad most of my leftover material is pinks and stuff [cos i like pink la!] but i'm making greg another pair of shorts [dark blue with spaceships], if got leftover, will make Aidan another pair of shorts heh.

p.s it was a pleasure making them

Actually, Ryan was tanner than Aidan previously but the former has since became much fairer..whereas Aidan still remains 'black' face...

Yeah..was telling [Bad username: yyumeko"] that too!!

Hmm..I was asked this question by my sis..whether I would discipline my kid as how our parents disciplined us (regulary caning/beating)..I couldn't answer her coz I really won't know till I face the problem. I do know that some kids can be really naughty and rebellious..and as parents..we gotta discipline them..it's just a matter of what method I'd gotta use...

Aidan looks like he is really enjoying the book. Where did you get it from?

As for the crying child, is the canning uncontrolled, i.e. the swishing sound of the cane, is it continous like one stroke after another repeatedly, or is it in a more controlled fashion, say 3 strokes where you hear the adult counting aloud one, two, three. If it is the latter and the canning is taking place on a frequent basis, I think the family needs help.

The line between discipline and abuse is so thin. So often children are abused in the name of discipline. And then there are those who are totally out of control, yet their parents for one reason or other choose not to exercise any form of discipline.

For starters. Do you think a brochure on appropraiate discipline methods would work for this family? I could mail it to you and you drop it into their mailbox. By the way, how old is this child ?

The book's from Mothercare - one of my fav place to shop for stuff for Aidan..

The thing is..I really don't know which unit and who the child is..The no. of times the child gets hits fluctuate too..at times, it's quite a bit..at times, not that much..The worst part is he'll always scream whenever he's caned and will continue to sob away after that..and I can hear voices tellin him to stop crying..

Here's the thing..Should I be that kaypoh as to like what u suggest...slip a brochure under their door (if I do find out which unit it is..) or just ignore it coz it's none of my business.

haha...aidan and this other baby really started look like a pair of good friends after so many times with you mamas putting them together in that big sofa. The other baby seems so much like saying, "hey, buddy you look..." and aidan follows his "sight" :P

and aidan really started become interested in exploring the world. Seems he is much more interested in other things (like his toes and books) other than the camera lens now.

(hmmm...just by the photos. haven't read the words yet.)

Yeah..Aidan's comin of that age where he's more curious abt things ard him..which makes it more fun to play with him. He is more vocal too and will make alot of li sounds when I talk to him..

Whenever Rachel is here with Ryan..we get such a kick seeing both of them interact with each other. Today, the two babies actually had a long 'chat' when we put them facing each other..It was so funny seeing them responding to each other with baby language..

I also hear a little boy crying almost everyday when he baths, I think. But don't have the courage to check it out. I don't think I have the ablilty to help anyway.

Wow!! The jacket and shorts looks real splendid!!! Aidan's real lucky.

As for the caning, while I deem discipline necessary, I feel that caning's not the way to go about. The child will end up fearing and detesting you. Just a few days ago, I also heard my neighbour caning/beating her granddaughter who was wailing really loudly. Struck horror within me, there's this sense of sadness. Luckily it's the 1st and only time I've heard her cries.

For the sake of the child, I hope someone comes forward to speak with the family involved.
