Am glad to be back :)

I'm as bright as my new yellow hungry li' caterpillar outfit :)

Did ya miss me?

Sheesh..I've been adapting to Singapore time too well for my liking. I've been sleeping at 12am and waking up at 6am for the last 2 days..It's so unme!! But just as well coz I was so tired yesterday that I'd forgotten to prepare Aidan's porridge on the slow cooker so I did it this morning instead.. On the positive side, Aidan's been sleeping like a log too...

I still can't get over how much he has grown. My parents-in-law has sure done a great job with him..I can't remember who was it who warned me that Aidan was going through a growth spurt (in view of his constant waking up before we left) but it seems that she was right. I'm sure he's about 3cm taller and at least 1 kg heavier..I used to have no problem whirling him around but now, I get a crick on my back just attemptint to carry him.

He's been eating really well too..none of the fussiness we had encountered before. Everything goes right into his mouth..he even uses his fingers to assist if any of the food does come out. His standard feed is about 2 bowls of porridge for lunch and dinner and followed by a fruit (either a banana or half a small papaya)..Mom commented that it's always so enjoyable to see him eating so happily and banging the table in appreciation while doing so..Mom has been cooking him porridge every other day so that he won't get too used to his porridge meals..and thus reject bottled food. I'd better start learning how to cook different variety of porridge..so far, what I know how to cook is fish and veggie porridge..bbhome, you better give me ur pasta recipe soon ..meganmacy..more recipes please!!!

============================

I don't know whether to write more of the trip especially since I've posted all the pics already...but I guess I'll just write a little...

New York..was really greyish..(cept for in Times Square which was really neon bright in the night)..The buildings in Manhattan were all either in ash-grey colors or brownstone and all the buildings looked alike..it's so different from the interesting, colorful houses one sees in San Fran..The weather was great..very cool temperature. There was only a light rain and strong winds the day before Hurricane Isabel was supposed to strike but that was it..

We did encounter some of the infamous bochap, gruff attitude of the New Yorkers but generally, it wasn't that bad. Oh..but what amazed me was that all the public toilets were sooooo clean. I mean, there could be only one ladies toilet in a huge restaurant but you won't see it in a mess like those in Singapore. And the service we received was top notch..yeah, one has to tip more in U.S. but at least you are getting the service that you deserve..unlike the crappy attitude we get from Singapore's service staff. I do really think Singapore should do away with the service charge because it doesn't really go into the pockets of the employee since the employers use it to 'bulk' up the waiters paycheck (I know coz I worked as a waitress before) and a waiter's pay isn't much to begin with..

The best part of the trip was probably the fabulous food places that moonberry and tinymich brought us to..!! Imagine, if I'd not met them, we would have been eating crappy steak meals every day..

Shopping was in one word...Great!! I didn't spurge on clothes for myself much but my biggest haul was at Victoria's Secret. One thing's for sure..tinymich knows her VS lingerie really well. Ended up spending about USD200 there on bras n bottoms and USD150 on makeup/skincare..Killer man!! Aidan benefitted the most from the Woodbury Shopping trip..I basically went crazy at all the baby clothes shop coz the stuff was so cheap. Even got him some items from Burberry and Polo Ralph coz the discounts were pretty generous! Hubby was lamenting that Aidan had nicer stuff than him..

I did miss the wee one a whole load..We called him every other day..and by week one, mom was telling us not to call that often!! Hubby and I oftened logon to my livejournal so that we can look at his pictures and laugh at his antics on the videos I had uploaded..It felt so weird looking at his pics and not having him with us. On the way back in the plane, all that was in my mind was that I was going to see my baby soon..Have told hubby that the next trip we do embark on, we have to bring Aidan along :)

My blur li' one yesterday morning...

Aiden is too cute. :) And *grin*, couldn't help laughing when you said Mich really knows her VS lingerie. I spent some time in VS too when I was in NYC two years ago visiting her... but then, alas, she hadn't quite accumulated the vast VS experience she has now yet. And at that time, I think we were both still blanching over the fact that bras cost so much especially on a student budget, imagining that OG Singapore would surely have cheaper ones. (They do, but it doesn't necessarily mean they fit.)

Mich definitely knows her VS now! She was even more knowledgeable than the salesgirls i tell ya..and was like givin me an orientation of the shop, tellin me which bra is the most comfy, mosty sexy etc..I think she accepts that VS is definitely gonna be expensive but one gotta pay for quality and good service :)

She did mention that you were there at VS with her before and both u guys discovered the 'difference'btwn a VS bra and an common brand bra hehe..

Aidan grew 3 cm taller and put on 1 kg+? Wow, Nana only managed to grow 5cm and put on <1kg from 6 to 9 mths =( So what's his measurements now?
angeliatay
Sep. 29th, 2003 03:10 pm (UTC)
We didn't measure him..is just an estimation. Coz previously, when he stand up usin the computer table as support, his head is way below the top of the table but now, his top of his head grazes the top of the computer table top..can tell that he has grown much taller..

The problem is..I only get accurate measurement of his stats when he goes to the paed and my next visit is next yr hehe..mebbe i shall try usin my measuring tape altho I'm sure he's not gonna keep still!

I think li' girls tend to be smaller but i think that's perfectly fine..dun u think..And Nana's such a lively, smiley li' child :)

So, at the end of last year, we took her along with us when we went to Cairns.

hee..i think my mil was a li' miffed coz she thought i didn't trust her enuff to look after Aidan well and was checkin up on her but it was simply coz i missed him like crazy. I almost called him everyday but hubby stopped me sayin that every other day should be enuff..(and mom still complained hehe)

Woah..Cairns would be a nice place to bring a kid eh. I am looking at the possibilty of goin Australia - mebbe Sydney and Melb next year..with Aidan this time round :)

I think for nearby trip, it's still okay..I was tempted to bring Aidan to NY but then, we were goin LV too and that would mean that both of us couldnt be at the tables if we did bring him. Probably will bring him to Australia next yr..or mebbe i can go visit u in HK and bring him along :)

Oi..i need recipes!

US is always fun. I've always been goin to the West Coast so this time round, I wanted to go to the East (but we still ended in part of West - LV)..
It was a free n easy..we didn't want to be under some rigid itinerary so we chose to do it f&e..that's why it was really relaxing (and therefore more time to shop and meet up with friends) :)
I think students get to go cheaper right..u should do so, after ur As!

Is it the pics or is Aidan starting to lose some baby fats on his face? Methinks he's really starting to look less a baby and more like a little boy liao. :)

Now that I've had a taste of buying lingerie for my gf, which VS outlet should I check out if I get to NY in Jan? There are some really sexy ones on their website. Heheh! ;)

welcome home :p kinda late. Can see that you really miss your Aidan very much. He does seem to have grown taller and face shape change more of a toddler than an infant.

VS.. my fav too. I can't fly to US to get them but I get some of those sale items by shopping online. But sometimes what you see is not really what you get :(
I think I will go crazy too if I am there myself :D

I can fully comprehend your satisfaction of getting those super great discount on the kids clothes.

Sep. 29th, 2003 10:54 pm (UTC)
But VS doesn't deliver here right? Then how do u enjoy the discount? I agree that not all the stuff looks as nice irl compared to those online..It's really better to be able to try them out..especially since the sizings may not be right..
hee..I was so tempted to buy clothes up to 3 yrs old but i controlled myself hehe..

Sep. 29th, 2003 10:52 pm (UTC)
actually, you are probably right..although his chubby cheeks is still there..his face does look a li' longer so it does look more 'adult'..*sigh* no longer a baby soon..*sob*

I think u'll get good service in all VS..go to the one along Fashion Ave (or somewhere ard there)..but the retail shops only sells lingerie (+ makeup and sleepwear)..not the clothes. Hey..isnt ur gf comin along for the NY trip?

I think i was considered quite stingy..usually a 10% tip..i think moonberry and tinymich tipped more..abt 20%..
