Sheesh..I've been adapting to Singapore time too well for my liking. I've been sleeping at 12am and waking up at 6am for the last 2 days..It's so unme!! But just as well coz I was so tired yesterday that I'd forgotten to prepare Aidan's porridge on the slow cooker so I did it this morning instead.. On the positive side, Aidan's been sleeping like a log too...
I still can't get over how much he has grown. My parents-in-law has sure done a great job with him..I can't remember who was it who warned me that Aidan was going through a growth spurt (in view of his constant waking up before we left) but it seems that she was right. I'm sure he's about 3cm taller and at least 1 kg heavier..I used to have no problem whirling him around but now, I get a crick on my back just attemptint to carry him.
He's been eating really well too..none of the fussiness we had encountered before. Everything goes right into his mouth..he even uses his fingers to assist if any of the food does come out. His standard feed is about 2 bowls of porridge for lunch and dinner and followed by a fruit (either a banana or half a small papaya)..Mom commented that it's always so enjoyable to see him eating so happily and banging the table in appreciation while doing so..Mom has been cooking him porridge every other day so that he won't get too used to his porridge meals..and thus reject bottled food. I'd better start learning how to cook different variety of porridge..so far, what I know how to cook is fish and veggie porridge..
I don't know whether to write more of the trip especially since I've posted all the pics already...but I guess I'll just write a little...
New York..was really greyish..(cept for in Times Square which was really neon bright in the night)..The buildings in Manhattan were all either in ash-grey colors or brownstone and all the buildings looked alike..it's so different from the interesting, colorful houses one sees in San Fran..The weather was great..very cool temperature. There was only a light rain and strong winds the day before Hurricane Isabel was supposed to strike but that was it..
We did encounter some of the infamous bochap, gruff attitude of the New Yorkers but generally, it wasn't that bad. Oh..but what amazed me was that all the public toilets were sooooo clean. I mean, there could be only one ladies toilet in a huge restaurant but you won't see it in a mess like those in Singapore. And the service we received was top notch..yeah, one has to tip more in U.S. but at least you are getting the service that you deserve..unlike the crappy attitude we get from Singapore's service staff. I do really think Singapore should do away with the service charge because it doesn't really go into the pockets of the employee since the employers use it to 'bulk' up the waiters paycheck (I know coz I worked as a waitress before) and a waiter's pay isn't much to begin with..
The best part of the trip was probably the fabulous food places that
Shopping was in one word...Great!! I didn't spurge on clothes for myself much but my biggest haul was at Victoria's Secret. One thing's for sure..
I did miss the wee one a whole load..We called him every other day..and by week one, mom was telling us not to call that often!! Hubby and I oftened logon to my livejournal so that we can look at his pictures and laugh at his antics on the videos I had uploaded..It felt so weird looking at his pics and not having him with us. On the way back in the plane, all that was in my mind was that I was going to see my baby soon..Have told hubby that the next trip we do embark on, we have to bring Aidan along :)
My blur li' one yesterday morning...
